I am an unabashed fan of Mo Willems’s entire “Elephant and Piggie” series. The pictures are cute and winning, the stories simple and yet packed with meaning. My youngest loved to listen to this and the other E and P books at age 2, while I was reading to my older children. He loved hearing these stories over and over and over, and eventually memorized them because he loved them so much. Each book in the E and P series has a sweet, thoughtful message cleverly hidden in a hilarious story with adorable illustrations. In “I Broke My Trunk”, it’s a funny story about how Gerald accidentally broke his trunk, and then ran to tell Piggie all about it. Adorbs.
