As I struggled to get my daughter to listen to my nagging, droning on, and otherwise annoying her with constant reminders, this was the most helpful book I read. The authors’ approach centers on respect for your children and believing they will do the right thing, given the opportunity. It gives you specific advice about how to get your point across. The approach may be intuitive to others, but it was not to me, so I even attended workshops that were held in my area. For parents with multiple kids, there is a book called Siblings Without Rivalry that incorporates the same concepts in sibling situations.
