Studio 35 Alpha Hydroxy Face Cream1
When my favorite skin care line decided to go all “Vogue” on me, I thought I’d lose my mind. For the past 11 years, I’ve used a wonderful Alpha Hydroxy Acid product to cleanse, and moisturize my face. I have pretty normal skin but this gentle, daily exfoliating cleansing lotion (that shall remain nameless) recommended by my dermatologist had been a mainstay in my shower caddy. Last summer, when I wasn’t paying attention, the company rebranded, discontinued the cleanser and jacked up the price of their moisturizer. Grrr! Since I’m a single mom working part-time, skincare went way down on my list of priorities. Then one day I found myself wandering around NYC’s Upper East Side, where exists a plethora of apothecaries and pharmacies. I came across a Walgreens/Duane Reade and found a large jar of Studio 35 Beauty Alpha Hydroxy Face Cream with an incredible price of just $9.99 a jar. Wha—??? It contains a whopping 8% AHA! I did a little happy dance right there in the aisle. I have to admit that initially I was leery of this generic brand lotion in its white plastic packaging. But I’m happy to report 4 weeks later that my skin is even glowing and back on track. I use it twice a day in the morning and at night and I even use it on all my rough spots too. This product leaves my skin supple and moisturized, without that oily feeling. I do advise wearing sunscreen over it because AHA can cause sun sensitivity. Walgreens/Duane Reade only sells this product in stores, but Amazon sells it for a marked up price.
